Voice Over Talent Need to Know How To Edit Audio...

Learn Audio Editing Skills for Voice Over at our Studio

Digital Audio Editing classes are held on a weekly basis. The class times vary with students schedules, however each class is 1.5 hours long for a total of 10 classes. During these classes, the student will go beyond an introductory level of hands on experience in these fields:

Neumann TLM103 MicrophoneEach class is with hands on, 1 on 1 instruction. The student takes over the controls for the class length. Rather than being told what to do, they are shown how to do it while operating the equipment they will be using in the future.

In-Studio clients get to use our equipment to learn, so they can learn the ropes before making an equipment purchase. We offer a dedicated digital audio workstation for our students to use for their course. The workstation comes equipped with a mixer, monitor, microphone, cables, headphones, audio editing software, practice music library and sound effects.

Digital editing students get to learn how everything works together so they better understand what to do when they get ready to build their home audio setup. This course is a must for anyone planning on operating their own home voice over production studio.

Classes are conducted using Adobe Audition which we feel is the best, fastest and easiest interface for entry level production work. The production skills learned on Adobe Audition can very easily be applied to other audio editing platforms. Though we do not offer in-depth instruction on Audacity or Pro Tools at this time, we do have those editors available for students at their request. Students will complete their course by going through the above procedures step by step so they have a full understanding of how they apply to the business. The course is intended to be fun, yet serious. Compact disks will be provided.

We also offer an in-studio self-study course for half the cost of guided instruction. During the self-study course students get to go through the same practice procedures on our equipment, but with limited direct guidance from us. We make ourselves available for the basics, but the course is otherwise self taught. We do this to make the instruction more affordable to people who want and need the audio editing knowledge and experience but can't quite afford the instruction fees.

Please feel free to E-mail us with any questions you may have about class availability and scheduled times.

One of the biggest reasons to learn good audio editing techniques is that every voice talent we come across, at one time or another, expresses an interest in learning how to produce their own commercials, and ultimately, their own voice over demos.

More importantly, it is becoming a daily demand from producers of audio, consumers of audio and voice over studio clients that the voice talent have their own studio and be capable of delivering broadcast quality audio production along with their voice over. More often than not, the voice over talent that have their own studio will be the ones getting the jobs before the people who only have "access to" a quality studio.

Back in the days of analog recording this would be near impossible for the "average Joe" to figure out on their own, and most recording and editing was left up to studios and audio engineers who had a crafty touch with a razor blade.
With the increased availability and affordability of digital audio workstations (DAWs) and more commonly used home computer editing platforms, more and more voice over talents are finding it easier to jump into the field of audio production and digital editing.

Now, maybe we are the only people in the world with this opinion, but digital editing is in itself a completely different animal than standard audio production, however a lack of training in either field could leave you with some awful sounding production.

The opportunity for new voice talent to really dive into their work and see how their voice sounds when put to music and sound effects is more readily available now than it has ever been before. With the right amount of practice and training in this field, voice talent with quality home studios, can begin producing their own VO's, which they can then deliver to clients with ever increasing demands, via FTP (file transfer protocol), Compact Disk, or ISDN.

Our studio provides the Digital Editing and Audio production training needed not to simply point you in the right direction, but get you working in the field. After these classes you will be at the performance level that is required when it comes to running your own successful home voice over studio. From standard commercial production, to multilayer, multitrack, multi-effect commercial production, as well as advanced digital audio editing, you will be taught the skills one needs to compete in this business.

The course topics (Commercial Audio Production - Digital Audio Editing) are separate from one another, so that the proper focus can be given to each topic. By the time you complete your training in both courses, you'll be off and running, ready to begin your career in voice over.

Digital Audio Editing and Commercial Audio Production classes are held on a weekly basis. The class times vary with students schedules, however each class is 1.5 hours long for a total of 10 classes. The classes can be taken one at a time or in a 10 week block for a discount.
